Lorain County Geodetic Control Survey — Lorain County

This Geodetic Control Survey for the Lorain County Auditor's office involved locating, installing and surveying more than 260 new geodetic control monuments throughout the county over a four-year period. The project objective was to establish a network of consistent geodetic control monuments to maintain an accurate state plane coordinate system. Data collected will also supplement the county’s existing online GIS database, which provides easily accessible tax map and real estate information to the public.

KS Associates performed GPS observations using five dual-frequency Trimble and Ashtech GPS receivers. This state-of-the-art equipment allowed crews to work efficiently and to capture precise measurements. KS Associates also carefully coordinated the project with local municipal engineering departments to determine optimal monument locations and with utility companies to ensure monument locations would not impede service.
