KS Associates provided surveying and base mapping services for the design of the Dugway West Interceptor Relief Sewer (DWIRS). This project is part of the Easterly CSO Phase II Facilities Plan undertaken by NEORSD to identify causes of and develop solutions for combined sewer overflows (CSOs) in the Easterly service district.
The project included designing a relief sewer to address wet weather conveyance needs from the Dugway East Interceptor Sewer at E. 110th Street to Ada Street (7,550 feet) and numerous side street relief sewers. Work was performed from September 2011 to September of 2012.
KS assigned multiple survey crews to the project and performed detailed topographic surveys, including existing utility and sewer locations on over 23,000 feet of City streets. Surveyors also performed an internal survey of the existing Dugway Culvert from Superior Avenue to I-90 (11,000 feet). The internal survey was performed by applying safety measures for confined space entry. The culvert survey provided an accurate as-built location of the culvert and documented the location of connecting pipes and laterals.
KS also completed surveys and legal descriptions for the acquisition of 60 easements, necessary for the construction of the project. In addition surveying, KS provided CAD services and assisted with Maintenance of Traffic plan preparation.
KS performed services as a subconsultant to AECOM.
