Structural analysis and design of superstructure and substructure of steel and concrete bridges using LRFD design methodology. Verify finite element software structural design outputs by developed design calculations sheet based on structural design codes (AASHTO, AISC and ASCE 7). Analysis and design of arch concrete bridges with shell element theory using finite element software. Fatigue evaluation and life-cycle analysis of existing steel highway bridges. Rehabilitation recommendation for bridge maintenance based on fracture critical and element level inspection. Load rating of steel and prestressed concrete highway bridges using influence line concept with LFD method. Use of CSI design package software (SAP 2000), LPILE and Excel VBA coding.
Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent based on evaluation of academic credentials, training and/or experience) as well as twenty-four (24) months in job experience to include structural analysis of concrete bridges; use of structural design codes (AASHTO, AISC and ASCE 7); design of arch concrete bridges; use of finite element software, CSI design package software (SAP 2000), LPILE and Excel VBA coding; fatigue and life cycle evaluation; rehabilitation recommendations and LFD and LRFD design methods. Experience may have been gained before, during or after degree. Suitable combination of education, training and experience is acceptable.
