KS Senior Coastal Engineer Christopher M. Day, P.E., D. C.E., was among the presenters at the annual American Shore and Beach Preservation Association (ASBPA) National Coastal Conference. The event took place August 26 to 29, 2024, in Galveston, Texas. This year’s conference theme was “Wrangling the Waves of Change: Adapting to Coastal Dynamics.” The conference convenes professionals who are leading the way in preserving and enhancing beachfront and estuarine shorelines and ecosystems.
Day led a technical session entitled “Nature-Based Shoreline Restoration at the Scheeff East Point Preserve” on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at 8:20 a.m. Day discussed how Coastal Engineers at KS Associates collaborated with the Put-in-Bay, Ohio, Township Park District to implement nature-based restoration techniques at the Scheeff East Point Nature Preserve. This presentation dove into the methodologies and outcomes of the project, discussed how the project overcame complex construction challenges, and provided valuable insights into the application of nature-based solutions in shoreline restoration.
