KS Associates is under contract with the Lake County Board of Commissioners to provide coastal engineering services for a new armor stone revetment. The revetment is being constructed along approximately 1,200 linear feet of eroding shoreline at the Bacon Road Water Treatment Facility east of Painesville Township Park.
KS Coastal Engineers visited the site to examine the severity of the eroding shoreline; performed hydrographic, topographic, and boundary surveys; and reviewed existing geotechnical data to determine if further geotechnical investigations were needed. Based on the outcome of the initial investigation, KS Associates designed a revetment and slope grading project to stabilize the shoreline and bluff to reduce the potential for erosion. After the completion of the preliminary design, KS Associates secured the required State and Federal permits; developed the construction plans and specifications; provided opinions of probable construction cost; compiled the construction bid package for the Lake County Department of Utilities; and assisted the client with the evaluation of bids and the recommendation of Shoreline Contractors, LLC to construct the project.
KS Associates is currently in the final stages of construction phase services for the project. A dedicated Coastal Engineer has been visiting the site each week to ensure that construction proceeds according to the plans, specifications, and regulatory permits. Construction inspection services have included reviewing submittals and applications for payment from the contractor. The scope of work also includes developing field orders for additional upland improvements to be constructed using the client’s grants for the project. Construction is on schedule and will be completed in the summer of 2025.
