KS Associates provided civil engineering and surveying services for the City of North Ridgeville’s new fire station on Ranger Way, across from the new North Ridgeville Academic Center. The City outgrew its original fire station, located on SR-83/Avon Belden Road, built in 1957 for a volunteer fire department.
KS Associates provided site design services to support the new 23,737-square-foot station. The new station can house up to eight fire trucks, offers living quarters, and features amenities including classrooms, a three-story fire training tower, expanded equipment storage rooms, and a medical room.
The site plan addressed grading to avoid a floodplain, utilities, wetland mitigation, and stormwater management. The site was tied into the new Ranger Way roadway, also designed by KS Associates and completed in 2018. The scope of services also included preparing a Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP), and responding to contractors’ Requests for Information (RFI) during the bidding process.
Construction of the project was awarded to Infinity Construction. The groundbreaking ceremony was held on January 10, 2018, and the fire station opened in 2019.
