CUY-90-14.90 Cleveland Innerbelt Bridge, Cleveland, Ohio

KS Associates provided field surveying services for the Design-Build team responsible for the design and construction of the new westbound Cleveland Innerbelt Bridge. The project is ODOT’s first Value-Based Design-Build contract. Survey work was performed in the early phase of the design process, and as needed.

Survey tasks included establishing 121 ground control points for mobile-LiDAR mapping of the project area; obtaining bridge details, such as beam seat and pier elevations for re-decking and reconstruction of 12 bridges on I-90 over city streets that are part of the project; and performing topographic surveys in areas where LiDAR mapping was unavailable.

All survey work and data were scrutinized utilizing extensive KS quality control measures – both in the field and in the office when processing data – to ensure information delivered for the design was reliable.

KS mobilized multiple survey crews in short order to complete survey assignments quickly, to meet the challenging Design-Build schedule. Survey work commenced in September 2010 and was completed in June 2011.
