Sandusky Yacht Club

The Sandusky Yacht Club is located in Sandusky Bay along the coast of Lake Erie in Sandusky, Ohio. The club serves more than 1,000 members and 600 sail and power boats. The club offers a full-service, 300-slip marina, originally designed and constructed by Poulos + Associates Architects, Inc. and Matrix Engineering (now KS Associates, Inc.) in 1986. Over the years, the club has implemented a number of phased improvements.

In 1989, the club implemented a project to rehabilitate 560 LF of outer breakwater by installing 0.5-2.0-ton armor stone to prevent overtopping. Construction cost: $300,000.

In 2003, the club implemented the Expansion & Entrance Breakwater Improvements project. This project involved the removal of 100 LF of existing armor stone breakwater and 250 LF of existing steel crib breakwater; construction of a new 215 LF & 130 LF rubblemound breakwater extension at the west side of the entrance; a new 200 LF rubblemound east breakwater (Meigs Street) with four fishing piers for public use; and 27 new floating docks. Construction cost: $1.2 million.
