KS Associates provided civil engineering services for the Tinkham Veale University Center, a student center and focal point on the campus of Case Western Reserve University (CWRU). After assisting the architect and CWRU facilities personnel in defining the scope of the project, the KS design team moved forward with the design, which addressed stormwater management, building connections and grading.
KS Associates also provided LEED consulting services. The facility is LEED Certified at the Gold level.
KS Associates worked closely with CWRU design team, helping to overcome site challenges including extensive underground facilities, underground parking, and a confined site — the facility is tucked into a relatively small area bounded by East Boulevard to the West and Bellflower Road to the North.
The building and surrounding space houses classes, meeting space, and dining areas. It satisfies the University’s need to provide a central meeting space for the more than 160 student organizations that were formerly housed at various locations throughout the campus.
