KS Associates was on a team led by Perspectus Architecture to provide surveying and civil engineering services for the Lorain County Crisis Receiving Center (LCCRC) for the Lorain County Mental Health, Addiction, and Recovery Services (MHARS) Board. The facility is the first of its kind in Lorain County considered a “no wrong door” to access services for those experiencing a mental health or drug/alcohol crisis. A groundbreaking ceremony for the project took place on October 27, 2023. Construction of the facility is anticipated to be complete in 2025.
The 25,000-square-foot building offers 32 beds, 16 for those struggling with mental health issues and 16 for those struggling with addiction. The facility is being built at 6130 Broadway Avenue on the campus of The Nord Center in the City of Lorain.
KS Associates’ scope of services included: performing a boundary and topographic survey; preparing a lot split to create a separate building parcel for the center; representing the owner at Planning Commission and Board of Zoning Appeals public meetings; developing a site plan that includes an underground stormwater detention facility to meet stormwater management requirements; preparing final construction plans and specifications; coordinating with the City of Lorain Planning, Engineering and Utilities Department; advancing EPA permits; and providing bidding and construction phase services.
