KS Associates provided surveying, design, and construction inspection services for an extension to Jaycox Road in North Ridgeville, Ohio, now called Ranger Way. The project was necessitated by an expansion of the North Ridgeville Local Schools campus on Bainbridge Road. The new Ranger Way provides bus and emergency vehicle access from Center Ridge Road to the campus.
KS Associates designed Ranger Way from the limits of a separate ODOT project to Bainbridge Road for a total of 1,850 linear feet of roadway. The project included the design of a new water main consisting of nearly 3,000 feet of 12-inch water main with 10 hydrants, five line valves, and two eight-inch connections. The water main was installed on the west side of Ranger Way. The water main mitigates wetlands that were removed to make way for the new Ranger Way roadway.
KS Associates managed the entitlement procurement and obtained a U. S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Nationwide Permit for 220 feet of stream impacts; an Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (OEPA) 401 Isolated Wetlands Permit for a project impact of 0.38 acres of wetlands; an OEPA permit to install the new water main; and a floodway permit from the City, which included floodway modeling of Robinson Ditch for a new box culvert. Floodway modeling and the 401/404 permitting were performed other consultants.
KS Associates also provided construction inspection services, serving as the liaison between the construction contractor and the City. In this role, KS Associates inspected the project for compliance with plans, specifications, and the contractual schedule. work included daily onsite inspections, maintaining accurate records of daily activities, submitting weekly progress reports, and tracking quantities to process the contractor’s pay applications. KS Associates also conducted wage rate interviews and monitored the prevailing wage records.
The project was constructed in time for the 2017/2018 school year.
