KS Associates was once again among the presenters at the 2021 Ohio Transportation Engineering Conference (OTEC), one of the largest transportation conferences in the nation. The event brings together transportation professionals to share ideas and innovative ways to safely and efficiently move people and goods throughout the state of Ohio. This year’s conference took place on October 26-27, 2021, at the Greater Columbus Convention Center.
KS Associates delivered a compelling presentation entitled “Wendy Park Bridge / Reconnecting Cleveland’s Lakefront (TIGER Project-PID 104804), Cleveland, Ohio.” Presenting was transportation consultant Hamid V. Homaee, P.E., along with Sean McDermott, P.E., Chief Planning and Design Officer at Cleveland Metroparks. The presentation was part of the Pedestrian Bridges Session (#54) on Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at 8:00 a.m.
The Wendy Park pedestrian bridge is a 250-foot-long Tied Arch flanked by two 125-foot-long Pratt Truss spans that complete the Cleveland Foundation Centennial Lake Link Trail, which connects the region’s 101-mile hike-and-bike Towpath Trail directly to Lake Erie. The bridge ties into the Willow Avenue Lift Bridge over the Cuyahoga River Canal and carries cyclists and pedestrians over the Norfolk Southern Railroad and local roads in an industrial setting. The project is adorned with first-class touches to create a “place” that is more than just a bridge.
KS Associates was also among the exhibitors (booth #532), and of course we had cookies! Looking forward to seeing everyone in 2022.
