KS Associates' ODNR Magee Marsh Shoreline Protection Barrier project received an Honor Award in the 2026 ACEC Ohio Engineering Excellence Awards Program. The 1.3-mile-long barrier protects Magee Marsh, an important coastal wetland. The result of the project is a structure that protects critical wetland ecosystems, mitigates erosion, and enhances Ohio's coastal environment.

KS Associates' entry, "Ohio Nature-Based Shoreline Certification Program and Installation at Old Woman Creek," received the Outstanding Small Project Award - awarded to one project with a construction cost of $2.5 million or less.

This pilot project is the first non-federal dredge containment structure to be constructed along the shore of Lake Erie. The lessons learned throughout this project are being applied to future projects aimed at improving Sandusky Bay, other Lake Erie harbors, and throughout the Great Lakes.

KS engineers overcame numerous challenges to make this long-awaited project a reality. The Wendy Park Bridge is a true public-private partnership that links 66,000 Cleveland residents to centers of employment, education, parks, and commerce, and provides a new link between downtown Cleveland and its lakefront.
